Empty Eye

This image came to me during a bout of depression and then refused to leave me. After starting to read this collection of fairy tales I've recently gotten, I noticed how grotesque the original tales used to be. Inspired by them, I started developing a story for the girl, Empty Eye.

She's kinda like a female Frankenstein's monster: A dead girl brought back to life, but she's not "human" anymore. Her brain works on an almost infant level, and she's very haphazard, an eye missing, cuts all over her, and white skin. The townsfolk call her Empty Eye because she refuses to take the hooks off her eye lids which display the empty eye socket. See, she's been called hideous and ugly so much, and has been treated so cruelly even when she doesn't mean any harm, she's become fascinated... actually obsessed with anything beautiful. Her hooks are golden with colorful beads, so she doesn't want to take them out; she might lose them. It's also why she's so enraptured by the butterfly in the picture. Maybe someday I'll write her story... I do have a rough idea what I'd like to have happen.

I'm really proud of this for some reason. I drew this quickly as it came to me, so for it to come out so well when I drew it so fast is surprising. Her face is a little off: the nose and mouth should be just a little higher from the chin, but otherwise I like her expression and both of her eyes. Plus that is the BEST hand I have ever drawn. I can't draw hands to save my soul, so forgive me while I prance about for drawing probably my best hand ever. **prance** Okay, I'm done now. Although I wish I'd done the blood a little better; it came out too fake looking. Will have to practice with that.

Materials: Crayola Colored Pencils, black, red, and white paper, white paint splattered with a toothbrush. Oh, and Pilot Precise Rolling Ball pen.
